Multi-Facet Encroachment

The Supreme Court has pulled up the State Governments for not carrying out its direction and directive to remove various illegal religious structures from public roads and pavements. The Court has given last chance to states to report compliance and will take the issue for further hearing in next month of May.

The India is in the grip of multi-facet encroachment in every sphere of life like residences, housing colonies, shops, industries on Government, Public and Private lands all over the villages and cities. Like organized crimes it organized trade of muscle, money and political powers. In capital Bhopal a big shopping mall along with housing colony of luxurious flats was set up in the land of Department of Industry of the State Government without any hindrance. After a long time it was demolished in implosion.

It is quite strange that after the setting up of colonies Government declare it as illegal and after some time it announced to regulate the illegal colony as legal structure. Religious encroachments are of small part of overall massive encroachments. Huge apartments are being set up with builders having political clout. In all villages there were grazing fields on Government land as a State support for cattle rearing. Now at no village such grazing fields are in existence.

In Vidisha district of Madhya Pradesh a huge tank-talab of archaeological importance vanished in encroachment for setting up farms. Encroachment is nationwide. It will be better and appropriate the Supreme Court, Central and State Government take overall view of the situation and formulate a national policy to remove all the encroachments on Government and private lands. Many expansion of railways were and still are held up because of wide-spread jhuggi colonies on the railway land.

In capital Bhopal the Railway Station and yards could not be set up for years together for this reasons alone. The Modi Government has announced many new development plans should also think of this problem of encroachment. Like clean India campaign he should also launch a campaign to clean up India by removal of all the encroachments. The Supreme Court is dealing with the problem of religious encroachment only. There should be overall action on this ever growing problem.
